The corn line-up at ports indicates that shipments may slow down even further

The line-up seen at Brazil’s ports on Tuesday, January 18, reflects the low corn export rate seen in January, which is an extension of the low levels seen at the end of 2021.

Only 1.4 million tons have been registered for loading on vessels either waiting to berth or on their way to the ports.

The decrease in corn handling turned out to be more severe than the scenario that Germinar Corretora de Mercadorias had projected by last Thursday, which was 2.1m/t.

Secex’s official statistics show 16.45% fewer corns shipped in the period between January 1st to the 17th, as opposed to the same period in 2021.

So far, it has been 98.020 thousand/t, compared to 117.3 thousand/t.

In the previous week, the reduction had been the most expressive.
