Merchant Marine Fund completes 18 projects and provides R$1.2 bi in financial support to the naval sector in 2021

In 2021, the Board of Directors of the Merchant Marine Fund (CDFMM) allocated  R$ 1.2 billion to finance new projects and technical changes related to 99 vessels. At the last meeting of the year on November 25th, an additional R$513.7 million were authorized for four new projects during the 48th Ordinary Meeting of the body belonging to the Ministry of Infrastructure. In all, the collegiate approved 18 projects in 2021 as priorities: 11 construction projects and 7 ship-repair projects.

During the meeting, the council also assessed R$ 574.5 million destined for projects that had already been approved but which had a new deadline for contracting financing. There was also an authorization to change projects that add up to an increase of R$ 111.6 million – and for a shipyard with no changes to the approved amount.

The CDFMM Resolution describing the projects that have received priority will be published in the official federal gazette and companies will be able to contract financing through partner financial agents (BNDES, BB, CEF, BNB and BASA).

New Projects (Total investment: R$513.65 million)

Construction of three vessels for maritime support – Macaé Navegações Comércio e Serviços Marítimos Ltda.
Construction of two container ships – Petrocity Portos S.A.
Conversion and modernization of a vessel – JA Q Apoio Marítimo Ltda.
Conversion and repair of two vessels – Bram Offshore Transportes Marítimos Ltda.

Resubmitted Projects (Total Investment: R$574.5 million)

Construction of five vessels, of the RSD tug type – SAAM Towage Brasil S.A.
Modernization of the tug ASD (Arcimbaldo) – SAAM Towage Brasil S.A.
Construction of 10 port tugs – Sulnorte Serviços Marítimos Ltda.
Repair of three vessels – Companhia Brasileira de Offshore – CBO.

Changed Projects

Investment addition: BRL 111.60 million
Construction of two vessels – Bram Offshore Transportes Marítimos Ltda.
Construction of two vessels – Wilson Sons Serviços Marítimos S.A.

Investment: BRL 8.18 million
Repair of shipyards for two vessels (Virgo and Ursa) – Bram Offshore Transportes Marítimos Ltda.
