The National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) will quarantine a ship that is in the Port of Santos, on the coast of São Paulo, after four crew members tested positive for Covid-19. According to the agency, operations had already been suspended on the 28th due to the state of health of some of the workers.

According to the Santos Port Authority (SPA), the Panamanian-flagged Belmoira ship, docked for the unloading of salt at Warehouse 32, had its operations suspended by Anvisa around 11:30 am. The stoppage was due to a suspected case of the disease. SPA informed the responsible shipping agency about the suspension of activities and the prohibition of access of any person to the ship.

In a statement, Anvisa reported that on Thursday evening, it received confirmation of four positive tests for Covid-19 among the ship’s crew. Among the four positive tests is a crew member who disembarked for medical care due to his state of health.

The regulatory agency reiterates that the vessel’s operations had already been suspended in view of the suspected case. With the confirmation of the positive cases, the ship will be placed in quarantine.
