32.4% of all Brazilian agribusiness exports went to China in September

In September, 68.2% of Brazilian agribusiness exports were shipped to the top ten destinations. Among them, the main destination country for agribusiness foreign sales was China, which holds a 32.4% share of sector exports. The European Union, the second main destination, accounted for 15.0%, and the United States ranked third, with a share of 7.0%.

The list of main destinations is completed by Japan (2.9%), South Korea (2.0%), United Arab Emirates (1.9%), Iran (1.9%); Vietnam (1.8%); Thailand (1.7%); and Hong Kong (1.6%).

In the comparison between September 2021 and the same period in 2020, there was an increase in exports to eight of the ten main destinations of Brazilian agribusiness products. In this sense, exports to China (+42.8%) and the United Arab Emirates (+31.5%) are highlighted. On the other hand, exports to South Korea and Vietnam contracted by 25.0% and 31.8%, respectively in September 2021 compared to September 2020.

When considering the year-to-date result in September 2021 compared to the same period in 2020, the biggest positive change occurred in exports to Iran (+98.3%), followed by the increase to Thailand (+40.2%) and to the United States (+28.4%). In the Iranian case, the main increase was for raw cane sugar (+US$ 22.4 million), while for Thailand the increase was mostly for soybeans (+US$ 38.6 million). In the US, the main product with significant increases was fresh beef (+US$ 32.8 million).
