Confirming the growth trend that has been registered this year, the Port of Vitória reached another positive milestone: the third quarter of 2021 was the best on record in terms of operations. July, August, and September saw 2,334,250 tons of cargo handled, with a total of 203 berthings in the period.
Solid bulk ranked first in cargo handling, with 1,190,437 tons handled. It was followed by containerized cargo and liquid bulk, with 779,939 tons and 260,066 tons, respectively. The busiest loads were fertilizer with 462,315 tons, and marble and granite, with 426,109 tons.
Before 2021, the best 3rd quarter in the history of the Port of Vitória was registered last year, when the period reached 2,096,930 tons handled.
According to the coordinator of Marketing and Business Management at CODESA, Raquel Guimarães, the 3rd quarter should pull the movement numbers for the year to a new all-time high. “This is largely due to solid bulk cargoes such as fertilizers and various coals, and the strong performance of TVV (Vila Velha Terminal). In addition, we have had strong growth in practically all cargo operated at the port, including liquid bulk, vehicles, and general cargo”, he stressed.
