Marfrig begins exporting beef to the US through 2 new plants in Brazil

Marfrig Global Foods, the largest global producer of hamburgers, began sending beef to the United States this month from two new plants located in Brazil: in Chupinguaia (RO) and Alegrete (RS).
The North American market is one of the main buyers of Brazilian protein and purchases are on the rise, behind only China and Hong Kong.
According to the company, the Chupinguaia unit’s authorization was confirmed in August and the first batch of 150 tons was sent to the US last week.
Since then, shipments are being made daily.

“This first shipment comes at a very favorable time when the US economy receives strong stimuli and the local market is driven by the high demand for beef by both consumers and by food services,” said Marfig Export Director, Alisson Navarro, in a statement.
With the approval, the US became the biggest buyer of meat from the Chupinguaia plant, ahead of Iran and Hong Kong, the company added.
The Alegrete (RS) unit had its authorization confirmed at the end of June and this month also began shipping to the US.
Along with Chupinguaia, the Rio Grande do Sul unit joins four others approved by the Americans, in Bagé (RS), São Gabriel (RS), Bataguassu (MS), and Promissão (SP).
