The National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) informed that it restarted the quarantine period of the ship Heraklitos on September 20th after another crew member was removed from the ship to receive medical care, having Covid-19 symptoms. The vessel was isolated in the Port of Santos on the coast of São Paulo after the death of an employee on board, who tested positive for the disease.
The operations of the Panamanian-flagged vessel were halted around 2 pm on September 2, after the death of one crew member was confirmed. The vessel had docked at the warehouse wharf 13/14 to unload wheat, but it has been in the anchorage area since the mandatory quarantine was ordered.
As previously reported by Anvisa, after the event, the teams tested 21 crew members, and four of them had already received a positive result for Covid-19.
The release forecast for Heraklitos was on the 17th. However, Anvisa informed that on the 15th there was a new case of Covid-19 on board. On the 16th, two more crew were disembarked to receive medical assistance, however, there is still no confirmation whether they are infected with the virus.
This Monday (Sept. 20), one more crew member had to disembark to receive medical care in the municipality. The result of his test, done to identify or rule out Covid-19, has not yet been released. In this way, the ship’s quarantine was restarted once more.
