The export of beef from Brazil is expected to fall 3.1% in 2022 compared to this year and reach 2.8 million tons, in carcass equivalent, according to forecasts by Safras & Mercado. This year, shipments should reach 2.9 million tons.

Safras & Mercado analyst Fernando Iglesias points out that shipments will tend to be reduced next year, with China not acting so aggressively in importing animal protein. “This does not mean that China will stop buying beef from Brazil, just that it will act more sparingly, due to the process of rebuilding the swineherd in the face of African swine fever,” he projects.

Brazil’s beef imports next year should be 7.8% lower than projected for this year, at 46.7 thousand tons, reaching volumes of 43.1 thousand tons.

Iglesias signals that Brazil should produce around 8.501 million tons of beef in 2022 – a growth of 2% compared to the estimated volume of 8.334 million tons for this year – with the increase in the supply of replacement animals and, consequently, in the volume of slaughtered animals.
