Port of Imbituba improves support structures for scales
Aug, 12, 2021 Posted by Ruth HollardWeek 202132
At the end of July, the new platforms and support ladders for road scales 1 and 2 at the Port of Imbituba were delivered. The structures were built with Glass-Reinforced Plastic (GRP), a material highly resistant to corrosion, and therefore suitable for regions close to the sea.
The type of GRP used is the pultruded profile, a lightweight plastic material and electrical insulator. Compared to galvanized steel, commonly used in the construction of stairs, pultruded profiles last longer and cost less over the years, as they do not require periodic maintenance.
In addition to the new scale platforms and ladders, the pultruded profile was also recently installed on the guardrails of the internal parking lot at Gate 1 and on the safe pedestrian path, which gives access to Pier 3.
